CASA of Jefferson County becomes a certified Safe Place

On May 11, 2023 CASA of Jefferson County proudly became a member of the Safe Place Program.

Safe Place partnered with the Jefferson County Youth Shelter to serve Jefferson and Switzerland Counties. It is a national youth outreach program that helps youth in crisis situations. Youth in crisis can text the word SAFE and their current location to the number 44357 and they will receive an address of the nearest Safe Place site. When a youth arrives at a Safe Place they are directed to the area your business has deemed appropriate to be able to provide details of their situation. The business will then reach out to the Safe Place Coordinator and they will ensure the youth receives the help needed.

Program Manager, Kimberly Courtney initiated this effort because of her passion in the work she does at CASA of Jefferson County. “We are proud to be a part of the Safe Place program and to offer more help to the youth in our community who may be in crisis. The children we work with know they are safe with their CASA volunteers, so the idea that their CASA can offer a safe place, if they need it, is important” said, Kimberly. “We have an amazing community that has stepped up to help children in need and organizations who support these children daily. Arvin Sango graciously donates funds to cover the fees for businesses to become Safe Places, so we want to thank them for making this possible for us”.
