We're Hiring! Join the CASA of Jefferson County Team as a Staff Advocate!

CASA of Jefferson County is excited to announce an opening for the position of Staff Advocate. This role is pivotal in our mission to advocate for child abuse victims and ensure their voices are heard in the court system.

Position Overview:

  • As a Staff Advocate, you will be responsible for up to 30 children, ensuring that you maintain monthly contact with each child and the service providers assigned to their case.

  • It's important to note that children awarded to the state through the Jefferson County DCS may not always remain within the county. This means the position requires travel. Hence, applicants must have a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and insurance.

  • To support your travel needs, CASA of Jefferson County offers a gas allowance of $150 monthly after the first 90 days of employment.

  • Your role will involve collecting up-to-date information on each case, making recommendations to the team, and attending court hearings to advocate for the children. This cycle is repeated monthly.

  • Recommendations are solely based on the best interest of the child. Communication regarding these recommendations will be made through written reports, team meetings, and various other contact methods with the Department of Child Services, public defenders, providers, and CASA staff.

  • This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours a week. While the role can be demanding, with effective scheduling and time management skills, most of the work can be completed between 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday. However, be prepared for some evenings.

  • Participation in fundraisers, training opportunities on weeknights and weekends, and mock meetings during future CASA training for new volunteers is mandatory.

What We Offer:

  • CASA of Jefferson County is proud to be a member of National GAL/CASA and adheres to all standards and best practices.

  • Benefits include a Simple IRA, medical cost-sharing for major medical procedures, and access to an employee clinic after 1 year of employment.

  • We provide our Staff Advocates with a laptop, cell phone, and personal office space.

  • New hires will undergo a 30-hour training program and, upon completion, will be sworn in as an officer of the Jefferson County 5th Judicial Circuit Court.

Who We're Looking For:

  • A dedicated individual who can maintain a public appearance befitting a Court Appointed Special Advocate.

  • If you're passionate about becoming the eyes and ears of the court and giving a voice to up to 30 children, this position is tailor-made for you.

Interested candidates are encouraged to email their resume to whitney@childadvocatesjc.net or reach out to learn more about this rewarding opportunity. Join us in making a difference in the lives of children in Jefferson County.
