Local Artist Eric Phagan Presents "The Gospel" in Support of CASA of Jefferson County

CASA of Jefferson County is thrilled to support the upcoming art show, "The Gospel," by the renowned local artist Eric Phagan. This two-day event, set for November 3rd and 4th, aims to shine a light on the children in our community in need and raise funds to support their cause.

"The Gospel" is a collection of 33 original paintings, each narrating the life story of Jesus Christ through the gospel. These masterpieces vary in size, with some as intimate as 8 x 10 inches and others soaring to a grand 10 feet in height. The event will be hosted at Poplar Place, located in the heart of downtown Madison, IN. Attendees will be treated to live music performances by local Madison musicians, scheduled every hour.

Eric Phagan shares, "This is a show I've wanted to do for a while now. It's been in the works for about two years, but the actual painting began more recently. I'm very excited to present an experience like this that's not been done before in Madison. It's fulfilling to see my vision come to life."

He continues, "Last year, in my role as the art teacher, I collaborated on a painting project with CASA. It was a transformative experience for the students to create art that could inspire and uplift others in the community. It has been deeply rewarding to continue this partnership with CASA, outside of school and integrate it with my professional journey as an artist."

...this event promises an unparalleled experience, combining local music with my paintings, all underpinned by a message of love.

The 33 paintings will be showcased and available for silent bidding during "The Gospel" show. A portion of the proceeds will benefit CASA of Jefferson County. Eric emphasizes, "I want all the charity from the show to go to children in our community who desperately need it. We're also partnering with other nonprofits that work with children. So, when someone purchases a painting, they can choose where 50% of that sale goes."

He adds, "CASA holds a special place in our hearts. It provides a voice for children who otherwise wouldn't have one. I invite everyone to come and experience 'The Gospel' show. Whether you're religious or not, this event promises an unparalleled experience, combining local music with my paintings, all underpinned by a message of love."

Whitney Roberts, Executive Director of CASA of Jefferson County, expresses, "It was exciting to hear that Eric is working on a project that's been on his heart for quite some time. He's incredibly thoughtful and kind, and we are happy to support him by spreading the news. We are very honored to be one of the recipients of the proceeds during his silent auction."

Eric Phagan, a nationally recognized and award-winning Indiana Artisan, showcases his sculptures and paintings at Gallery 115 (115 E. Main Street). His works, ranging from local streetscapes to the Ohio River valley landscapes, are a testament to his talent and dedication. After graduating from Herron School of Art in 2006, Eric moved back to Madison and worked professionally for several years before joining Madison Consolidated Schools in 2012.

As Eric puts it, "It is going to be something you just have to come experience, and it's for those two nights only, so please come support local children and community, and be a part of something new and exciting that has never been done before!"
