Child Advocates Devoted an Impressive 5,055 hours, Logging a Staggering 10,263 Contacts for 175 Children in Jefferson County

Over the course of our work, the team devoted an impressive 5,055 hours, logging a staggering 10,263 contacts. This means, there were 10,263 times the child’s voice was present in conversations about their own lives. Each interaction was a critical piece of the puzzle, allowing our child advocates to effectively serve as the eyes and ears for the Judge presiding over these sensitive cases.

As 2024 comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support our community has provided to our program and the abused and neglected children we serve in Jefferson County. This year has marked a remarkable chapter of growth and outreach for CASA of Jefferson County, and we are thrilled to share some highlights of our journey together.

Throughout the year, we forged valuable partnerships with local businesses and engaged with community members who share our passion for making a difference. Thanks to their generosity, we have been able to expand our outreach initiatives, reaching more children in need and providing them with critical resources and support. Contributions have directly impacted the lives of these children, offering them a sense of hope and stability in challenging circumstances.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers have made significant strides in supporting the most vulnerable members of our community, having 175 children assigned to our program in 2024. Each of these cases represents a unique story and a distinct set of challenges, and our team has worked to address the complex needs of each child involved. Collaborating closely with the Department of Child Services, we ensure that the safety and well-being of these children are our top priorities.

In addition to their dedicated service to vulnerable children, our child advocates have shown an impressive commitment to personal and professional development, accruing a remarkable 400 hours of in-service training. This extensive training is not merely a checkbox in their volunteer journey; it represents a proactive approach to equip themselves with the necessary skills and knowledge to better support the children they serve. By engaging in workshops, seminars, and specialized training sessions, our child advocates have honed their abilities in areas such as child psychology, trauma-informed care, and effective communication techniques.

We are incredibly proud to share, again that our team’s dedication and hard work have been officially recognized at the Indiana State Conference of GAL/CASA! CASA of Jefferson County was honored with the award for theMost New CASA Volunteers in Indiana for 2024’, a testament to the commitment and passion each team member brings to our mission. This achievement reflects not just the numbers but the countless hours spent recruiting, training, and supporting new volunteers who serve as child advocates for children in our community.

Child abuse remains a critical issue in our community, demanding immediate attention and action. With the generous and compassionate support of our community partners, we can confidently advance our mission to advocate for those who are unable to advocate for themselves. Each contribution, whether through sponsorships or donations, plays a significant role in changing the trajectory of a child's future, allowing them to thrive despite their past.
