On May 14, 2024 Tri Kappa awarded grants to 10 local nonprofit programs that support & enrich the lives of local residents. CASA received grant funds to cover a portion of the Indiana State GAL/CASA Conference in September 2024.

Each year, Tri Kappa’s local chapters join with the State organization to contribute approximately $1.5 million to Indiana charities and students. Since 1901, Tri Kappa members have donated untold hours and millions of dollars to projects in the state of Indiana.  The main work of each chapter is to conduct special projects locally to support each of our three goals: Charity, Culture, and Education. This year

Tri Kappa Mission

“Bringing women into close, unselfish relationship for the promotion of charity, culture, and education”

Tri Kappa chapters are governed by the State Convention and State Council consisting of five members. Chapters abide by a set of State Bylaws and also by a set of bylaws written by the Chapter themselves. Many of their chapters are incorporated. Tri Kappa is a 501(c)(3) organization. Kappa Kappa Kappa is a thriving Greek sorority made up of almost 7,000 women in approximately 220 Active and Associate Chapters. Tri Kappa is an “invitation only” sorority. A potential member is invited by an Active sister in the local chapter. A Pledge is allowed into their Tri Kappa sorority by a secret ballot vote.

“We are honored to be a recipient of this grant award from Tri Kappa to help offset the costs associated with the conference which is mandatory for programs per standards and grant agreements with the Indiana State Office of GAL/CASA. The amount of team building involved throughout the conference increases our motivation and strength in our work as child advocates. It is all about learning and improving the field of Court Appointed Special Advocates by sharing knowledge and nurturing connections. Not only do we gain the opportunity to speak directly to others about their areas of expertise, but we also learn a great amount from the presentations and workshops. The first two days of the Annual Indiana GAL/CASA Conference are marked by the Annual Staff & Directors' Meeting, providing invaluable insights into new legislative updates by CASA State Director, Rae Feller. Esteemed guest speakers grace the event each year and provide substainal insight with their expertise in child welfare, trauma, DEI, advocacy and more. The conference is also a time of celebration as awards are presented to the Director, Staff, and CASA Volunteer of the Year. In 2016, CASA of Jefferson County’s very own Daniel Hellmann was named CASA of the Year. In 2023, CASA of Jefferson County was recognized for having the most contact with providers, children, and stakeholders.

On Saturday, local program staff and the state office are joined by hundreds of CASA volunteers from across the state. Whitney Roberts, Executive Director of CASA of Jefferson County, reflects on the event, "It's one of the most powerful days in my work with CASA, seeing the hundreds of CASA volunteers fill the conference room. I think sometimes, it's easy to feel like we are on an uphill battle, then suddenly we are reminded there are thousands of us out there! We very much look forward to this year’s upcoming conference!"
